In Squid Game Season 2, Thanos, known as Player 230, enters the scene in a group scenario where all players awaken in the main hall. His real name is Choi Su-bong and he is in the deadly games because of a debt of 1.19 billion won.
Thanos confronts Lee Myung-gi, also known as Player 333, who previously operated a controversial YouTube channel called MG Coin. Through the channel, Myung-gi dedicated episodes encouraging viewers to purchase an as-of-then unknown cryptocurrency, Dalmation. Millions of won disappeared overnight for those who took his recommendation.
Thanos’s brawl with Myung-gi takes center stage when he learns that both he and Myung-gi are players in the game. Thanos instantly recognizes Myung-gi as a culprit in his downfall and publicly declares war.
Before the first game, Red Light, Green Light, another player recognizes Thanos as a former rapper, a runner-up in a show called The Rap Battleground. He tries to exploit his infamy and rap abilities to curry favor with Player 196, but fate strikes when she is eliminated in the game. After that, Thanos becomes more aggressive, sabotaging other players by pushing them physically and using drug to keep strong.
After surviving the initial game, Thanos is eager to continue participating, seeing this as an opportunity to increase the prize money. He uses his public persona to gather a group of followers, including his close friend Nam-gyu, who is Player 124. During a confrontation, Hwang In-ho, also known as Player 001, quickly dominates and overpowers Thanos.
As the games continue on to the Six-Legged Pentathlon, Thanos teams up with Nam-gyu, Se-mi (Player 380), Park Min-su (Player 125), and Gyeon-su (Player 256). He successfully competes in the Jegi game and leads the charge to throw in another vote to continue the match. Over the course of some back and forths, Myung-gi exposed that Thanos losing the rap battle was due to forgetting his verse, which further deepens their conflict.
Throughout the games, Thanos’s drug use only gets more out of hand while he struggles to adjust. He didn’t allow Gyeon-su in their group during the third game called ‘Mingle’ because teams were made too small. Gyeon-su died. Thanos also forced Min-su and Se-mi to play rock, paper, scissors to see who could be in his and Nam-gyu’s group when game rules chopped team sizes down.
In a curious twist of fate, Thanos opts to take Nam-gyu with him and leaves Min-su behind. Despite the cutthroat competition, he expresses satisfaction with surviving the game. When Min-su presses the button signaling to his team that the game is over, Thanos presses the button, kisses it, and says “Let’s fight.” When Min-su walks away, Thanos follows him into the bathroom and starts a scuffle where the game is finally ended in a chaotic brawl encouraged by Myung-gi.
Ultimately, Thanos meets his end when Myung-gi stabs him in the neck with a fork during the brawl, illustrating the violent nature of the games and the stakes at hand. His character reflects the desperate struggle for survival and the impact of personal rivalries against the backdrop of the deadly competition.
